Meet the knitter: Little Things Blogged
She’s Greek and she’s passionate about photography, blogging and cats. Tanya, better known as Little Things Blogged is a knitter, a crocheter, a home decorator and most of all she is a knitwear designer. We love her modern, upbeat style, her taste for colours and her positive approach towards life.
Could you present yourself by telling us your favourite book and the last travel you did?
Um, actually I’ve got a few favorites but the last book I read and loved was The Wind Up Bird Chronicle by Haruki Murakami. My last trip was to Berlin and it was amazing.
Coffee or tea?
Definitely coffee! 😊
Tell us something about you and your relation with crocheting and knitting.
Crocheting came into my life out of nowhere. I can still remember myself sitting on a sofa, 3 years ago, trying to make the first chain stitches of a scarf project. The process was not easy. I sat for hours and hours, maybe days until my scarf was finally ready. The outcome? One scarf and a new addiction that changed my life. I basically learned to crochet through the Internet! There are so many blogs filled with how- to crochet instructions and videos! Knitting came a few summers ago! My mum showed me the basics and after a lot of practice I can now say that I love it!
Do you remember your first knitting project?
My first project was a simple garter stitch scarf. Once I got the hang of knitting, I just kept going until I had piece long enough for a scarf!
Is knitting a hobby or a job for you?
Actually it’s both; it started out as a hobby but I think it turned out as a job, as I am now selling my designs online and I am cooperating with crochet and knitting magazines and brands as a contributor and freelancer!
Aside from knitting/crocheting what are 3 things you are passionate about?
Photography, blogging and cats! 😊
Could you tell us your typical day?
I wake up early, around 7:30 a.m., and have a bowl of oatmeal and a cup of coffee! By 9:00 a.m., I am dressed and responding to emails at my computer. Next, I usually start working on freelance projects. That involves setting up a photo shoot, writing a copy, and organizing the project materials and crocheting or knitting the actual project! Around 3:00 p.m., I break for lunch and get back to work. At this point in the day my schedule tends to vary, but I try to maintain some form of structure. Some days I crochet or knit late into the night and sometimes I work on my computer. I try to unplug from everything on the weekends but I am not really good at it yet! 🙂 Haha.
One of the best things that happened in your life?
Learning to crochet and knit!:)
How does the place where you usually knit look like?
Haha, that’s easy! It’s my living room! I usually crochet and knit while sitting on the sofa listening to music!:)
Where does your name and logo come from?
Actually, the name Little Things Blogged was just a thought I had when I started my blog, little things to be blogged about! 😊
What’s the philosophy hidden below your art?
I think it’s a modern, upbeat and colourful style. With a crochet hook in my hand I am free to be me and I really love this feeling! I like to inspire others and it’s incredible to play a small part in the huge crochet world!
Which is your favourite yarn to work with?
I would say bulky, but lately I got addicted to DK and worsted weight yarns! I love their drape!
What are you looking for while choosing the yarns and colours to work?
Actually this pretty much depends on my mood and the project I have in mind! There are times I choose darker colors like grey or anthracite (especially during Winter) and times I go with more upbeat colors like blue or mint! The last ones are my current addiction!:)
Your favourite U/KNIT yarn?
Where do you take your inspiration from?
Well when looking for inspiration I certainly like using the web; I mostly use Pinterest, where you can find lots of inspiration and ideas! Also, magazines and crochet books are on my inspiration board! I especially like flipping through those pages when enjoying a cup of my favorite coffee and also often in the most unexpected places! I like drawing inspiration from things I find in my daily life!
A knitter/crocheter you love?
There are so many lovely people out there! I really love Michelle’s style (foreverautumn on Instagram) and of course Mandy’s from Crochet with Redagape! I also love Emma’s style from Lulu Loves and Nicole’s neutral and minimal style from Miskunn.
What are you working at?
I’m currently working on a blanket, a couple of hats and a cardigan! One can never have one project!
Your next project?
I want to design an oversized and cozy crochet sweater!:)
